At 12 noon Friday [yesterday], I had to say goodbye to my family and Travis in the Nashville International Airport. 21.5 hours, three airplanes, a couple naps, two plane meals and several pages of Brennan Manning’s The Ragamuffin Gospel later, I have arrived in Italy. Hallelujah!
It’s sort of an overwhelming feeling. After having planned to be here for so long, to think that the time for me to begin my work here is now is almost surreal. I am going to be graced by so many opportunities and blessed by so many people while I am here.. of that, I am confident. My prayer right now is to adjust as smoothly as possible so that I can be more aware of the potential of my spiritual work here, rather than culture shock issues.
Mom and Dad bought a cheap digital camera for me to have while I’m here and I’m excited to put it to good use and finally get some albums posted here on my site. Please continue to check in on me here.. but more importantly, remember myself, Emily and all the other Avanti people in your prayers. The ways in which your words of encouragement can bring strength to us here are innumerable.
A couple of reminders: I do have Skype and iChat, but the time I have to use these tools of communication is limited. However, if you have a username for either of these programs, email it to me so I can add you to my list of contacts. I want to stay connected with you!! Also, if you have any other questions about what I’m up to, or if you have any news to report, you can email that to me as well. There is a link to my email as well as links to the weblogs of my cohorts on my About Me page. Check it out!
Take care and God bless!!
