I have lessons with 8 different students. Antonella is a member of the church in her 40’s.
She happens to be the mother of Giorgia, the younger lady that Kensey is teaching.
She is a very nice woman who spends 45 minutes learning English from me and in return, she teaches me Italian for 30-45 minutes.
Melissa is also a member of the church in her 20’s; she helped the FHU program in Citerna this past semester and has returned to Catania for the time being.
Andrea is a 27 year old artist who started English lessons last week. He comes 3 days a week for over an hour each time. He is not only interested in English, but also in studying the Bible. At the least, he is interested in studying the moral lessons one can take from the Bible. He is a very interesting person.
Vittorio is a man in his 40’s who studies once a week. As of now, he is only interested in learning English, but Lord willing he will become interested in learning more about Christ and His message. Salvo is a friend of Massimo‘s, one of the men who is a leader at the church here, and has shown interest in both the English and the Bible. He has actually been to church on a few occasions, because he is a true seeker. I study English with him twice a week for thirty minutes both times, and Brandon speaks with him in Italian about Bible for the remainder of the hour. Hopefully either my Italian or Salvo’s English will improve, or both will happen, before Brandon leaves so I can then talk with Salvo about the Bible in a more comprehensive manner.
Just last night we added two more students that I will study with. Giuseppe is a man in his 30’s and a former student of Brandon’s who comes off and on. He knows that he needs to change aspects of his life, but just hasn’t reached that point. Please pray that he keeps coming to lessons and is willing to make those changes.
Younes is a man in his 30’s from Morocco. He speaks Arabian, Italian, and wants to improve his English. He will start studying next week at 6:30 pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Xin...a student that studies with Kensey on MWF has started to study with me on Tuesday and Thursday. She is interested in Business and has asked that I teach her as much as I can remember from my degree in college. She is a Chinese girl who speaks 5 languages...3 of them she is fluent in and English is really good and its her fourth language. Every Tuesday we have singing night and every Thursday is our midweek Bible class. Brandon is slowly giving the singing class over to Dario (23) and Fabio (17). Thursday Bible studies usually have 25 plus members. Teachers are on a rotation by the completion of their study. For example if one teacher speaks for 8 weeks and completes his topic then the next speaker may speak for 13 weeks...depends on how long they take.

During these times we offer our English courses, bible studies, and general information about the church. This way the church is open, at both locations, at least 6 hours a day. When we are at one building Stefano Spina is at the other. So we alternate so as to be able to offer English on both sides of the city. We have students at both locations. Saturdays are generally a day of rest.
Sundays we go to church (obviously) in the morning. After there is usually an argument between members over who gets to take us home...even though the building is only a 15 minute walk from the apartment. This might have something to do with Charlotte (Brandon and Kristin's baby girl) being so cute that the members of the church want as much time to look at her as possible. In the evenings we usually go to Enna for services and supper with the church there. There are only 2 members...a married couple... and they have requested that someone from Catania make their way to them for service 3 times a month as they are willing to make the trip to Catania once a month.
